Talking What Transmission?

Hey guys, great news!! I just put a deposit on a 96 F150, V-8, auto,4x4. It has about 75k miles on it. It is in MINT condition. I have a question? What auto trans is in this truck?? An A4LD??? What is the longevity of a 302? Thanks guys. Also, sad to see my 97 F150 go back at the end of the lease, but hey, I need a lower payment, because I am getting a house, and marriage. I guess I need to sacrifice some things. T

Most likely you have an E4od. IT came out in 1989 and is a fairly good transmission. You can tell what it is by looking at gear locations on the cluster. Most likely the forward gears are OD,2,1 with a cancel switch on the shifter.

The 302 was a truck engine from 1967?-1996. IT basically is a pushrod 4.6l. It is a very durible engine, some people can get over 250k miles on them with minor maintence.

Got a 302 ci in my 90 f150. 131,000 mi. and no problems with engine, doesnt use a spot of oil between changes, and has great power for my 2wd reg. cab. Makes me glad I didn't opt for the 351 when I bought it. You wont be disappointed with it, as long as you keep that oil changed.

Thanks for your help guys. I am great with my 97 info, but she's up on her lease. So the 96 is going to be my new baby.
