87 to 89 part interchanges

I just bought an 87 F150 for $550, it runs good and drives. But thats not what Im using it for, Im going to be using it for parts for my 89. Im getting the door, back glass and bed off of it. BUT, what else is interchangable? They are both 300s, the 87 is an automatic 2WD, my 89 is a 4 speed 4WD. The 87 parts truck has AC, can it be swapped over to my 89? Also, is the automatic a good tranny, and can it be swapped for my 4 speed? I might grab it as a spare if it wont be a big deal to swap it.

THANKS

I would say that almost anything could be swapped, however, if your truck didn't have the options that the 87 did, ie., A/C then it would be little more tricky, routing houses and what not, all in all very doable I believe

Yeah, I figured it would be a little trickier if my truck didnt have it to begin with. But Im willing to put the work in.

I would most def take a 4x4 ready T-18 four speed over a C6...

Otherwise, purdy much everything the same.

are they the same models (ie: single cab with short bed)?

if so, the auto will swap in just fine with no major mods needed. Just part swapping. You have everything thing you'll need from the donor, so it would just be a matter of your time to do it

also, is your 4 speed the one with the 1st gear that is a granny?

Yeah they are both single cab long bed. But after driving the 87 parts truck, the tranny slips pretty bad anyway.

And yes, my 4 speed has the granny 1st

How does the 89's ECC handle the air coditioner it never had dealings w/til now. Do you think it's programed to function with or w/o, and that program part is dormant until 1 is introduced to it? As in hooked up & clearing the KAM . Then rebuilding the Learn tables now w/an A/C present . I wonder if thats how people devorce themselves from their EGR's or 1 of a dual-O2 sens. set up and still allow the ECC to enter closed loop function?
