Hey all got a 1979 F150 Ranger witha 460 engine. I had to change out the dash recently, and when I plugged the new one in the gas gauge on the dash worked like once in a while, sometimes I'd get a full tank, sometimes not. Now I'm not out of gas we drove it a total of 10 miles and it worked then it didn't and then the next time we drove it, nothing till half way down the street. Then it finally won't work. So what's going on with this? What should I be looking for to correct this? It did the same thing on the old dash when we had originally pulled it replace some bulbs. It was working perfectly fine until we messed with the dash(s).
