Totally lost, 213 Spout connector code
Just dropped a new 302 in my truck. BAD early detonation at around 2K rpm, under load (going up hill) Tried backing off the timing, and no luck. Tried setting the timing with the spout connector out, no luck. Getting a KOER code, 213 spout circuit open. But how can the circuit be open if it makes a difference when I put the spout connector back in (runs worse)? Don't wanna break my new engine, and I love this truck, but I'm really getting frustrated. Thanks VERY much in advance for ANY info anyone can give me.
BTW I did search and all the threads I found had multiple codes, and in my case this is the only code I'm getting.

What year is the new engine? Are you sure you're using the right firing order?
What is your base timing set to? It should be 10 BTDC with the spout out. Run the KOER test again, and check the timing during the test. It should be 30 BTDC.
Post your results.
