Flairside Trucks

Does anyone know much about the Flairside trucks? Are they F150s or are they Rangers?

I'm just curious because I saw one the other day that like new. My jaw dropped like a stack bricks. It was beautiful.

Flareside is Ford's name for the small box bed with the wheel wells outside the bed, not inside - both Rangers and F-150's have that available.

I'm not talking about that... I know what a flareside pickup bed is...

I'm talking about one of these (believe it or not, it was EXACTLY like this in person):

On a second thought, they look like F150s... but I'm not too sure.

I think they look awesome when they are in excellent condition...

Looks like an older F150 to me.

That is a pre-97 F-150 with a Flareside bed. Next door neighbor's daughter's boyfriend has one of those, I see it out in the street all the time. It actually says Flareside on it.

You've never seen that?

Anyway, this style of bed was used from the '50s up 'till '86.

Very rare '87's squeeked out of the factory to use up stock I suppose.

No stepsides for '88-'91, and then '92 they came back like you pictured above.

I'm just curious...

All the above. The neighbor's is a V8 automatic regular cab. I bet you'd love to find a super cab with an I6 and a 5 speed.

Either that or a v8 with the 5 speed scab... in that red in that pic I posted...

That red is so different from the reds I see on new trucks. But it looked like it was not a daily driver for sure, making it even more prestine.

I dunno why old trucks really turn me on...

Only difference from a styleside pickup is the bed obviously, and a FlareSide badge.

I always did like these trucks. I test drove a used one at a ford dealership, almost bought it but I decided to buy brand new one. It had a bunch of scratches down the side, It looked like it been 4 wheeling alot.

Yeah, I liked them when I was younger... then I kinda forgot about them... but when I saw one the other day, I was like... that is one hot looking truck.

But finding one in that condition would be RARE.

Personally, I wouldn't even care what engine/tranny it had... as long as it looked awesome and working mechanically fine I'd take it for top dollar.

It is just an emblem designating the style of bed, kind of a style thing. they are regular F-150s with all options as normal effer's...just had that emblem.
