Mass Air Problems
I installed the mass air conversion kit into a 89 f150 and it seems to idle fine but then when you give it some gas it seems that it is like falling off. the truck kinda smells like it is flooding itself.. the somputer is a3m1 and i bought it about 3 months ago .. not new used .. what should i do or look for or is there something im doing wrong, or should i buy another computer for it .. what are the common symptoms.. do i have to re time the truck

when you say you installed a kit does that mean you got the kit from ford?? i made mine so i dont know how those are set up. but i might check the o2 sensor(s)
one more thing, i cant remember the numbers for the computers but if you have an aod you should have gotten a computer for a manual shifted car but if you have an eaod (od switch on the dash) you need to do alot more work

Do your injectors match your computer.
The following information is for eight cylinders engines only.
If you are using the 19 lb injectors that most trucks have and the computer is for 17 lb injectors you will get too much fuel as you put the 42 psi fuel pressure across the injector.
All of our F-series trucks have injectors that are made to have 42 psi fuel pressure across them and the fuel pressure across them will never change from 42 psi (WOT or idle) or you have problems.
So the computer takes it for granted that the pressure is 42 psi, has the pound injector installed that was called for in its program, then it adjusts the pulse width.
