Driveshaft Removal

Does anybody know what size the torx bolts are where the shaft mounts to the rear end? I don't really want to buy a torx socket set and it not have the right size.

Also, once it get the shaft unbolted from the rear, is it supposed to just slide off the yoke or is there something else I am going to have to remove?

thanks,
michael

You can take them off with a 12 pt socket or combo wrench, 12mm if I remember right but it's been a while. You need to pry it off the flange with pry bar or something then give it a yank and it will slide out of the back of the tranny

Thanks for the info. I will try a 12mm on it.

Is it a torx bolt that a 12mm just happens to fit on?

thanks,
michael

Yeah, not a torx. No hole.

A torx bolt does not have to have a hole. They have reverse torx which is what the bolt on the drive shaft looks like.

Here is what the sockets look like.
