Timing question...

Under the hood, there is a sticker that tells what the timing should be (timing is off a little). It also says that it can only be changed at the dealer due to the computer readings or some crap like that. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Can the timing be changed manually by me and is there anything out of the normal (or extra) that needs to be done when doing this? Also does anyone have any advise on speedo calibrators. I read somewhere, don't remember where, that if the speedo is off that it can throw the engine out of tune. Is there any validation to this?

Thanks for everyones help....

On a 95, you set the initial timing with a light just like the old days. You pull the SPOUT (spark output) connector, which is the black or grey plastic plug in the wiring harness between the dizzy and the ignition control module, loosen the distributor hold down hook up the timing light and have at it. The part of the timing which is in the PCM you cannot adjust.

You neither need nor want a speedo calibrator. Your Speedo is recalibratible. Read this thread to learn how to recalibrate your PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module):
