Chips?
It's jusr a resistor to change the reading on the Intake Air Temp sensor, causing it to richen the mixture slightly. More like 2.5HP gain.
Spend your money elsewhere like on a 6-pack of brew. It will do as much for your truck's performance and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

LOL, ya, a 6 pack will do more for performance. Not that we'd know.
Pre-96 cars have very limited tuning. All the "tuners" out there just play with the air/fuel ratio slightly and don't really offer any meaningful gains.
They go in the same bin as throttle body spacers and those cyclone things you jam in the airbox.

Anyone know about these? http://www.tsperformance.com/gas-tuning.html
A friend of mine has one in a tractor and he said it is worth it.

25% HP gain?
So say the 5.8L in your truck(or whatever it has) puts out 200hp.....a 50hp gain from a chip? New tuners on new cars don't gain that much unless there is heavy modding and a good tune.
I guess if you're into performance tractor-using, then....whatever
The lofty HP numbers stated on performance websites are dreams. Even the banners on this site for K&N filters claiming HP boosts from a drop-in filter....you get the point.

Troyer has Superchips for the older trucks. Lots of info on the searches.
I totally disagree that pre-96 trucks are limited in tuning, regardless of using mass air or not. The quickest pre-97 trucks were in fact the 1st generation Lightnings, which are speed density trucks.
If you find a real company that tunes properly it's a good bang for the buck based on the input of the owners. Most real gains require going to premium fuel, as this allows more aggressive timing tables. You can also have shift points changed, along with shift firmness.
