what is that bracket called?

its the one underneath my truck, that the rear transmission mount bolts to. some how i managed to snap the T-mount right out. so now the whole engine is sitting at a slight angle to the left. pretty messed up i know. I'll put pics up late but i need to buy that arm. any ideas?

Are you saying you broke the Crossmember?? If so you better check that Transmission case for damage. Also if the power team is sitting to the left you better check both motor mounts for damage.
How exactly did this happen??

well one day, at a light, i wasn't really paying attention to rpms (didn't really have a tach yet either) and i stalled out. heard a loud pop, but started up and kept rolling. this happened a long time ago and everything kept working so i didn't think too much on it. well i recently changed ball joints and radius arm bushings and actually spent some time under my truck and noticed it. i'm surprised i missed it, i change my own oil.
motor mounts? from what i can see of "motor mounts" my engine is sitting on a thick piece of rubber on each side that is cupped to fit into another piece of rubber. nothing bolted through. am i way off? something damaged that i can't see?
oh and the tranny looks fine. the tranny mount is still attached to it and it snatched a piece out of that cross member and is sitting ****-eyed. pics tomorrow will help.
what made me really notice that something wasn't right (that led to further investigation and the finding of the broken cross member) was one of my pulleys (lower left, not sure what it connects to) was rubbing a hole in my lower radiator hose. i blamed it on the hose manufacturer the first time, but the second time i had to replace it i looked for something on the truck and here we are today.

I would still check the Motor mounts as they are not really designed to sustain too much of a twisting action. Did the Cross member rust out or did it just fatigue?? If it just rotted out that's one thing but if it failed due to fatigue then you really need to check the motor mounts as one is probably seperated and allowing the engine to torque over. This happens in drag cars allot. Since the 4.9 is a torquey motor anyhow I'd make a thurough check of all the mounts. I recently replaced a leaking oil pan gasket on mine and found the right hand motor mount seperated/failed. By the way, they are available at Direct Ford.

I'm willing to bet the motor mounts failed first. It looks like the crossmember failed due to long term torquing of the motor.
