4.9 vs 5.0 exhaust

between the 5.0 v8 and the 4.9 i6 what is the difference in sound with an after market system like flowmaster or gibson? i have a 96 150 w/ the i6 and i'm debating on if i want to go full blown for sound or if its going to sound like crap just keep it stock

thanks for the help

Which flowmaster?

also is it worth it to get the whole system or just a muffler, could i just get a high flow cat with a flowmaster and just clamp it strait on to the existing piping? i could care less about the look of it coming out (ill just get a big *** chrome tip )

I had a Flowmaster cat back kit on my '92 I6(designed to fit all engines for that truck, 3 inch pipe) and it made a decent differance in performance(along with an aftermarket coil and wires, and K&N Filtercharger kit for the same engine) and it did fool a few people with the sound. I never got around to replacing the cat though. Didnt matter, it sounded good.

I need a new muffler on my 92 I6 so i was thinking of going with dual exhaust too it has a decent sound with the holes in the muffler lol but it probably hurting performace with the bad muffler.

On mine there is no cats and i have a flow master 40 series with duals. It sounds like a v8 idling but while driving it has a nice deep tone to it.
