check engine light

ever since i bought my 96 f150 the check engine light has been on any suggestions what it may be its got 160000kms.

It could be any freaking thing under the sun.
Take it to a parts store and have them scan it.
Write down the EXACT codes they get and post them.
Better yet buy your own code scanner.
