overhead console woes

Does anyone out there know if there are other Ford overhead consoles that will fit my 96 F150 (regular cab). Like will the overhead console from a 99 Explorer fit and plug in, or even a 2001 F150? Thanx

I have installed a overhead console from an explorer into a ranger a while back. Other than cutting the headliner to fit the console, and wiring it up, worked like a charm. The ranger was close enough to the contour of the console, made it look factory. The roof line may not be the same from the 96 to the newer trucks / suv's, might not sit flush with the headliner. I'm not sure if the 96 trucks had a gem module to pick up vss signal for the ext temp reading, if you got the console with temp and compass display.

I wasn't aware that a factory OHC was offered in pickups. Does it have a mesh basket at the back?

Read this thread.

Installed a console from a 2000 Explore in my 94.
See:

for some pictures and the wiring charts.

I don't know if they were offered or not, that's why I want to add one to my Eddie Bauer reg cab F150.

Something about the way you worded your original post made me think your truck already had one, and you wanted to replace it.

The most direct fit would be a '94-96 Bronco OHC, but they're SUPER-rare, which makes them very valuable. I've sold 4 sets now, and each went for almost $400.

But these Explorer consoles are much more common. These 2 include everything but a few feet of wire between the A-pillar & the temperature sensor, and I'm selling them for $60ea+sh. If you can't find one locally, read this post & then e-mail me.

I figured the Bronco one would be the most straight forward but after my $155 dollar bid on 3bay the other day was surpassed and the auction went up to upwards $250 I figured that it was a rare item. However I've seen quite a few of the explorer units so I was hoping if someone has tried this route instead. Otherwise I'll just go with a Gentex all in one rear view mirror.
