Rear end oil change

Rear end oil change

I am planning on doing a rear diff fluid change on my truck when i get paid, well i found out the diff cover gasket is only 4 dollars. but i dont know the type of fluid and how much to use. Can anyone help me with this?

Should be on the tag on the diff. If you don't get the kind with the friction modifyer, be sure to put some in. And I think it's 3 quarts.

5.5 pints of 75W90. Do yourself a favor and use a synthethic. It will run much cooler.

If you have a Trac-Lok LSD, you need toeither use a lube which has the friction modifiers in it or add 4oz. of friction modifier

Ford doesn't recommend a gasket. Personally, I prefer NAPA RightStuff.

When I changed mine, I went to a Ford dealer that I could trust and they gave me everything I needed. Their sillicone for the seal is great stuff!
