Fuel Pump

My 92 f150 302 is near impossible to start. I tracked it down using the haynes manual. To a faulty fuel pump. With the fuel pump running non stop at KOEO via jumper to ground. It takes about 40sec to climb to 20psi then tops the regulator test proves fine and i replaced the fuel filter to be sure. Im going buy a new pump but how long should it take to climb to 35-45 psi. Also i home made my gauge, I took the valve out the stem on the rail, but a hose on the stem ran it to my gauge that had a nipple on the end. This would read the pressure accurately correct?

It should be at full pressure engine off once the "whirrr" noise stops, and to full running pressure once the engine is running. If you want, get an actual guage and see what it reads.

0 sec. By the time you get the pump powered up, it should be at operating pressure. Did you look thru the EFI Fuel Pump album in my signature link?

Did you make sure both your pumps are working?

(Though I'm used to bronco's but the F150 should be the same.. A low press pump in the tank and then a high press pump inside the frame rail by the drivers side door..)

The 92 and newer f150 has a one high pressure pump per tank. My truck had the rear tank removed when i bought it, so i can't compare the two pumps.
A looks like about $75(Canadian) for a pump. so i'm not too worried plus this is my "playin" truck so no rush

Not quite, it was '90 and up.

That would be '85-'89 302's, '87-'89 300's/351w's, and '88-'89 460's.

I'm pretty sure it was '90 when they went to the FDM (in-tank only) system, but I haven't done a LOT of checking on it.

c&p
My truck runs on a '96 tank & lines.

Yes it was 1990 for the F150 (F-series) Gas and 1991 for the E-series Gas when they went to the FDM (in-tank only) system.

Ok, thats what the haynes is showin'. I swore when I was junkyard searchin' for a tank it was an '89, but maybe it was a '90.
