Hoods

Do all 92-96 F-150's have the same hood?

All '92-96 fullsize pickups & Broncos & '97 pickups over 8500 GVWR have the same hood. Aftermarket versions are common eBay, and there are several people on FSB parting out trucks. Check the For Sale forum.

Thanks!

I thought so but wanted to be sure.

I've a 2-inch circular patch on my hood where the paint is gone. It's been that way for a while and I'm wanting (finally) to do something about it.

it sounds like you just need to take your hood off and take it to a paint shop with your paint code and have it painted.

Unless a used hood from a parts yard costs less than having it painted...of which, I'll admit, I have little idea what either would cost. I just know paint and body is expensive.

I haven't decided. It's just my beater/daily driver so I'm in no hurry.

I think the paint will be cheaper, and I doubt that you will find one in the junk yard that wont need to be painted anyway.

You can order a can of color-matched spray paint from most parts stores, or sites like PaintScratch. If it's a beater/DD, it won't matter that there's a SLIGHT difference in your old, faded paint & the new spray. It'll certainly look better than a junker hood that's nowhere close.

I guess I didn't explain enough...this spot is down to bare metal but someone who owned it before me put down some primer in the spot and painted it black. I bought it knowing this. The first time I washed it, the paint came off. I've owned the truck for over 5 years now and I've not had any rusting in the spot. The primer has been sufficient, although it seems to be almost a crater in the hood. The paint layers seem very thick.

I know....weird.
