Start with basics. Look at the vehicle ID sticker on the door jamb. On the bottom 2 lines of the sticker are a bunch of codes. Look for the one that says "axle" under it will be a number like "17" or "19" or possibly an alphanumeric sequence like "H9." Post what it says. That way we will know what you have now.

Also what tranny?
2WD or 4WD?

nice looking truck I like the way it looks with those tires. I have a 95 short bed 2x4 with 4.9 5 speed and I am running 235 75 15s and wanting to go to the size you have but I want to wait until I change to 3.27 gears. I have 2.73 stock and it is to high for those tires.

do they rub at all when you turn sharp if so I will go to the next size smaller.

there is a tag or should be on the diff. cover held on by on of the bolts. it will tell what should be in there.

"Better" for other people isn't necessarily "better" for you. You don't need to regear with 31s, or even 33s. You only need to recalibrate your speedometer, which is easy to do in a few seconds totally free. That'll make your transmission shift properly again, and you'll see your old gas mileage again.
