Which tranny?
How do I know what transmission I have?

Anything else I can get from the VIN?

What ATF should I use?

Never, ever publish your entire VIN.

The VIN doesn't ID the tranny.
Look at the Trans code on the Vehicle ID sticker on the door jamb. That has the info you need.

How do I interpret the codes you are speaking of? I am purchasing this truck next week and do not have it in my possession.

There will be a single letter code under the heading "Trans" on the vehicle ID sticker.

G = C6 automatic
E = E4OD automatic
U = 4R70W automatic
M = M5OD manual

All, including the manual tranny, use Mercon ATF
