no usually Mexican Pesos but most places will except US cash here in Mexico

In Juarez, the currency of choice for bribing cops (and if you spend enough time in Juarez, sooner or later you're going to have to bribe a cop) is $20 US (or $50 US if you've actually screwed up or he's really greedy or both.) Maybe they don't think it's dishonest since you're not bribing them in their nation's money.

Dollars and Pesos both spend equally well in virtually all stores and restaurants on both sides of the river.

It is about the same here. allot of business prefer to be paid in US dollars. everyone that has any kind of savings keeps it in dollars. at all Mexican Banks you can have Peso accounts or Dollar accounts. most business post there exchange rates for the day and you can use ether. one of my business here is a money exchange.
