front x suspension on 89 f150

my buddy has a 89 f150 4x4 with the x suspension in the front and he hates it. he wants to know if it is at all possible to to swap it out for a solid front axle.

i agree it might not be the best design. I ve thought about a solid swap myself. ive read a few articles in petersen four wheel and offroad magazine about it. its doable with lots of fabricating. i just rebuilt my frontend back to new and loving the x suspension!

There is an entire fourm section devoted to Solid Axle Swaps for the TTB.

The TTB is fine for daily driving, slightly bigger tires, and maybe desert racing, but a soild Dana 44 or 60 is what ya want if ya got the $$$.

If they are swapping Solids onto 88+ Chevy's then it should be very possible with an 89 F 150.
