simple brake question

My main problem is when I hit the brakes, they will toss you into the windshield. Cold, warmed up, doesnt matter.
What is causing this?
I've never had a problem out of this truck except for the throttle position sensor.
It is being replaced tomorrow.

Has the truck always done this? Maybe your foot is a little heavy?

Howdy and welcome to the basement.

Wish mine did that, I've replaced every brake part possible on the 88 and it still don't stop fast enough for my likin.

Its always done it. I don't mean that it stops quick. I mean that it locks ups.
I cant put my foot on the pedal. I have to just use the corner of my boot.
I'm tired of wearing my coffee.

Try a set of Hawk HP+ or PFC "Z" compuond pads. They're extremely dirty, especially the PFCs, but they do work.

The brakes grabbing could be a problem with the proportioning valve or the booster. Is it the fronts or rears only (probably the proportioning valve) or all four (probably the booster)

had the same exact problem in my old dakota. brakes would work fine. then out of the blue id tap them and get whiplash lol. quite embarrasing as well come uo to a light a SCREECH like a panic stop.. turns out proportioning valve was sticking.of course it was a 87 truck so chrysler dealers said not available. i had to have one made up. what a pain.
