Unhappy Opinions please!

'93 F150, 5L V8 4x4, AOD. Have a noticeable light miss at steady cruse operation. No miss on acceleration or load like going up hill. No computer codes. Have changed plugs, wires and dist. cap. Payed particular attention to proper plug wire routing to eliminate crossfire. I'm stumped!! Anyone have suggestions as to where to go from here??? Thanks 'Mo

That is a strange one. Please explain how it acts when you are cruising that tells you that you have a miss. Does it also do this with the overdrive shut off? (button on shift lever).

Check u-joints, tire balance, slip-yoke grease, wheel bearings, gear teeth, & the EGR valve.

I can feel it coming from the engine compartment. It is not a vibe. Does not appear to be drive train related. In or out of O/D makes no difference. Can put it in neutral and everything is smooth. Back in drive at steady state operation and can feel the miss. As I said, under load, no problem. Weird!! Driving me crazy!!

Try disconnecting and plugging the vacuum hose that goes to the EGR valve, and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I did have a EGR code not long ago. Hasn't come back though. All I did was clear it from memory. 'Mo

Egr?

hornet41,

Did you get it figured out? I had a similar situation with an EGR valve that caused loss of power, pinging and other driveability issues. "Check Engine" light was on steady; I cleaned it and cleared the trouble code the problem seemed to be gone and the "Check Engine" light did not come on again. Problem solved? -Wrong! I checked trouble codes again and the codes for EGR are back even though the MIL is off. A sticky EGR, seemingly can cause problems at certain engine loads.

I had that problem not to long ago. I just put a thin piece of sheetmetal that I cut between the manifold and the EGR (block plate) and have not had any provblems since. Truck runs smoother now.......
