Questions on replacing gas tank...
Its easy to remove them, as long as you have the tool. One gave me a prob on the Explorer, damn thing wouldnt let go (neighbour had the cheapie tool) If you pull hard enough it will let go without the tool, but I wouldnt recommend it

The ones I have are similar in function to the ones Dave MI suggests, but in another thread someone else liked the plastic ones better. In my place the plastic ones failed terribly. A friend had the "X" type like in Daves link, and after ragging me came over and got his butt kicked, failing to remove the line with his tool.
I went and got this one below. After a combined time of probably at least 1 hour trying other tools, the line clicked off in seconds on first attempt.

Like I said, it will vary with the line. All the line tools are fairly cheap so if you want pick up a couple and return any you don't open if the need doesn't arise.
I dropped my tank from the bottom, and the worst part was rusted hitch bolts. Probably the same lifting the bed off. In my case there was plenty of room to mess with the pump and fuel line fittings from the bottom, and I didn't need any help lifting the bed off.
Either way isn't a bad job. I will say however that if I changed rear tanks on early model F-150s for a living I would probably own 5 or 6 different line tools, just in case.
The 'X' ones from pep-boys suck - I took one out of the packet in the store and it was really badly machined/cast. The ones from sears were way better quality.
Anyways - job is done, and you're a happy man clearly!
