SENSORS: Maintenance and/or replacement
SENSORS: Maintenance and/or replacement
I am looking for advice on what sensors you guys would clean and/or replace if you bought a used older F150. I am first looking for those than can be cleaned, but also those that are cheaply and easily replaced. My situation is that I've done a lot of other maint and have truck running pretty nice (just a little bit of very minor up and down in the idle).... because of how (relatively) well it is running and because of the (relatively) low value of the truck, I'm not looking to spend much money. Part of me is thinking it ain't broke, don't try to fix it...... but would consider some further maintenance before winter.
Here is what I have: 1987 F150 300/4.9/6cyl 4WD (very rusty!!)
Here is what I've already replaced: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, fuel selector valve.
** If I need to "RESET" truck/computer at all after doing any of your recomended cleaning/replacing - please please describe procedure

Don't reset anything, when the computer is reset all the learned driving parameters are lost and it takes some driving to get it back to good efficiency.
Is the '87 electronic fuel injection? I know 88s are, but cant remember '87.
Lopey idle would be on an EFI truck the Idle Air Controller wich you can search how to take off/clean/replace for pretty cheap.
