82 F150 runs really rough when cold

Hi,
I'm having some issues with my 89 F150 4x4 with a I6. Whenever the truck has been sitting overnight and I start it in the morning, it doesn't want to stay running... It hesitates, sputters, and stalls out. If I keep my foot on the gas it's fine, and in about 5 minutes, it'll idle fine on it's own. I've cleaned my carb, added a water remover to my fuel, changed the plugs, and i'm still having the same problems.

Anyone have any more suggestions for me?

One other issue... My dash lights are out, when I throw a new fuse in, it blows instantly when I turn the park lights on. Any ideas where to start to figure this out?

Thanks

You have a short in your wiring somewhere for the dash lights.

I'd say your choke isn't closing at idle. Pull off the air cleaner and look down into the carb. The choke butterfly should be blocking off air like on your lawnmower.

I agree, sounds like a choke issue. As for the fuse blowing you will need to get a wiring diagram and trace the wiring for the park light circuit, somewhere there is a short to ground. Do your tail lights still work or is it just the dash that goes out?? If the tail lights are going out too i would start by checking the trailer wiring connector if your truck has one, its common for them to corrode and short.
