92 F-150 Won't Start
While at idle truck revved up, got in, pressed gas several times and it would not idle down. Turned off, and will not re-start. On advice sprayed starter fluid into throttle body intake and it started. Will not restart without starter fluid. Also very slight surge when sitting in idle. I am thinking fuel pressure regulator?? Any advice, what else should I be looking at?
Cleaned the IAC valve yet? Also double check your fuel pressure the quick way by turning the truck on and listening for the high pressure pump then go out the fuel rail and press in the schader valve with a tiny screwdriver to see if you have fule pressure. Gotta be one of the two
If it runs fine on starting fluid then it's pretty obviously not getting fuel. Listen for the pump when you turn the key on. If you don't hear it whirr for a sec or two, it went bad. If you have dual tanks try the other one.
I found a bare wire (the black one) on the TPS coming off of the throttle body air intake, am buying new one tomorrow. It has 3 wires, orange, green, and black. Could this be part or all of my problem? I plan on cleaning the IAC, can you tell me exactly where to find it and what it looks like?
SHE'S RUNNEN!!!! Replaced TPS, cleaned IAC. My theory is that the bare wire on the TPS which is the SIG TRN (signal return) was shorting and not sending back good info. to EEC causing the problems, THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP AND ADVICE.
