Unhappy Still first start of the day problems plus more

93 F150, 302.
The first start of the day is still a problem that I have to cover the throttle body (top and bottom) while cranking before it will start. I have finally purchased a fuel pressure gauge and will check it when i get a chance.
Now I have more problems it started missing on me over the weekend and is showing DTC's 53,41,31. I have read on all of these and the pinpoint guides or whatever are like reading greek. Is there a simple solution???

THANKS

I think your on the right track. I would be interested to see if it leaks down pressure while it sits(it should not of course).

It means the injectors do not have fuel to start the engine and there is a problem with the system. Possibly a bad fuel pump or a leak in the lines. Have you replaced filters and the obvious cheap stuff first.
Haynes covers all the test very well And is to long to go into so I always suggest investing 20 bucks in one if you don't have one yet and following the procedures in it.
My best guess is the pump in the tank is bad or weak though.

it does it on both tanks, isn't there two pumps?
and would both go out at once?

No I doubt both are bad odds are its not the pumps(sorry I did not catch you have two or just forgot ). Since that is the case let me just say that you have a very complex system in my opinion. By the way I have the same setup. There are two pumps, selector valves, check valves to keep one tank from slowly filling up the other and filters that require a special tool to re move, lines, rails injectors ect. So you can see how it can be tricky. One possible fix is a leaking injector. Each one has an o ring on top and bottom. If one was bad it could cause this leak down. There easy to replace and cheap. Just remove the rails and one injector at a time and remove and replace and reinstall. I believe in doing somthing like this anyway in this situation even if it does not fix yor problem its good preventive maintance. When all else fails read the instructions.
