I would drop the tank and check the rubber (hoses).

Today when I filled up I put about 3 gallons in the rear tank to "test it" and then just filled the front. Switched to the rear, and drove for probably 20-30 minutes on rear(gas had to have circulated by then, right?). No bog or stall or any other performance issues, and the needle dropped a little so it must be working alright. I did give the undercarraige a once over, checked the supply hoses and fuel lines for any obvious damage or cracks and didn't really notice anything. Switched back to front, I'll use that for regular driving, I just wanted to check and see if the rear was servicable, which it apparently is. I don't need it's extended range, but having a couple gallons of "backup" gas is always handy.

One thing I did notice though: when I switched to rear and the gauge changed, it was a lot more bouncy than normal. Whenever I went uphill or downhill, or hit a bump the needle would sway considerably(as much as 1/4 of the scale) and then settle back down to where it actually is. When on the front it doesn't do this. Maybe because the tank is so flat and square waves form more easily in the tank? It's not a concern at all, just an observation.

It needs gas so I'll fill the rear when I go fill it up, and toss some drygas in there just for good measure.

Are the two tanks on two seperate filters, or do they both share one?

They share one filter.
