Unplugging inertia / fuel pump cutoff?

Hi, recently purchased an '87 F150 (six cyl/4wd). Today opened up fuse panel to check on an unrealted item ( flasher)... noticed that the relay plug/harness (not sure what correct term is) that would plug into the inertia switch is disconnected and hanging there. Everything (that I know of) seems to be working fine (fuel pump is obviously functioning).

So, my question is..... what all would be affected by leaving this unplugged vs. plugging back in etc. ?

Thanks

If the inertia switch is unplugged, and it still runs, then someone has bypassed the switch. The switch is normally inline between the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump(s), and when tripped, unplugged, or removed, opens the fuel pump circuit, making it inoperable.
