Suspension question?

Hey guys iam not a big wiz on supension compondents and i am redoing all the shock and spings on my truck and was wondering if there were any other suspension parts i should look into replacing. I have heard about sway bars but i don't seem to have any on my truck its a 1994 f150 2wd straight 6 manual 5 spd with an 8ft bed. Is this normal or did the previous owner like take them off or something? I didn;t even see like the mounting brackets for them or anything
Thanks a Lot Mitch

I don't think sway bars were available on your truck, i know mine didn't have them. Take a close look at the radius arm bushings, they wear out and cause the truck to wander a little bit. Also check the rear leaf spring brackets that are riveted to the frame. Up here in the snow/salt/rust belt they rust and break off, all the Ford dealerships up here stock them because they are such a common problem.

Suspension

Mitch, I had a 95 F-150 with an inline 6 in it, I had put KYB gas adjust shocks on it at about 80K, I sold it to a coworker about 3 years ago with 140K on it, it handled real nice when I sold it and he is still running the truck with about 175K on it. I used to work in a grarge back in the early 80's my boss got me hooked on KYB's back then. you'll pay a little more but monroe and gabrial are JUNK compared to KYB's. I know there are other shocks like Bilstien and others but they are a lot more. I still have a 1979 Volvo 242GT that I put KYB's on back in about 1982 or so, and you can still push the bumper down and it will spring right back.

I currently have a 1998 F-150 Lariat with KYB's and Helwig sway bars.
My wife has a 1994 Camry that I put KYB's on about 3 1/2 years ago.
Good luck and give KYB's a try.

I agree that Gabriels and Monroes are junk. I just installed Bilsteins on my truck, and love them.
