94 F150 With Oil leak
Hi iam new to this forum and i have a question, a couple months ago i bought a
94 f150. Its a 6 cylinder manual. Recently i have noticed oil leaking though, its coming from both sides of the rear engine and i just redid the valve cover gasket but that didn;t solve the problem. Any clue what else it could possibly be?
Thanks

Your gonna have to crawl under there and take a look, you might even have to degrease everything with brake clean, drive it for a few miles then look at it again to see where is coming from. BTW it is real common for the oil pans to rust through on the I6 engine.

ok
Thanks guys for the helpful tips. Ive degreased the engine and drove it. It seems that the oil is leaking from the sides, of both sides of the engine and is leaking more toward the back of the engine. But one i drove it for a while the entire engine became coated again. The oil seems to drip down right on top of the side of the transmission. i looked really close and the oil almost seems to be comming from the seperation in the engine below the spark plugs.
THanks again Mitch

It is the oil pan gasket. Good news, the gasket is rubber. You can drain the oil, unbolt the pan and peel the gasket from around the pan. May want to unbolt the starter. The new gasket will come with plastic pieces that will thread into the holes on the block and support the gasket and the pan while reassembling. Make sure the new gasket is also rubber. You need to orient the gasket correctly and "peel" it back around the pan into position without twisting it. Install two of the plastic pieces into each end of the pan bolt holes one on each side. I use the very back two, and the two on the block just behind the timing cover.
