Smog/emmisions parts

Just curious if anyone has had to or tried to replace the emissions parts on pre fuel injected trucks yet? I have a 81 with the 300 6cyl and several years ago the pump locked up. The plastic lines were dry rotted and cracking and fell apart basically. Ford has stopped making these parts as I am told by a local for dealer. Just wondering if anyone has some info.

a little more info on my post. My grandfather bought this truck new and my dad says that it use to get decent gas milage. It drinks it now, like 8-10 mpg. I dont drive this truck all the time so its not breaking me up but I am trying to restore the ol truck and thought if adding this stuff back would get me 5 or so mpg then I would add it while doing the restoration.
The truck runs great without the smog stuff but was wondering if adding it back on would increase mpg enough to be worth the time and money?
Any suggestions on adding mpg is appreciated.
