Fan running...
Fan running...
I was out in the truck today messing around with the CD Player (trying to figure out how to switch it to radio with a CD in it...but still couldn't figure it out.) and when I was turning the truck on, before I started it up, I let it run on ACC for a minute. There was a sound in the engine that I never heard before. I turned the vents off in the truck, but the sound still was going on. It sounds like a fan, and I was wondering if the electrical fan would still run if it is only on ACC. My sisters car has the fan that does keep going in it while it is on ACC, but I am not sure about the truck.
By the way, it is an 88 300.

I have heard that also in my truck and always wondered what exactly it was. My truck is a 87 with a 300 I6. It sure does sound like a fan running, but it cant be the fan cause we dont have electric fans. I usually hear it after i turn the truck off and go back out about 5 min later.
I have a 88 F-150. The fan your hearing is probably the cooling fan. It does comes on after you turn the truck off. Supposed to keep the fuel in the fuel rail from evaporating. I also have the 300 six. For me, I usually hear it most in the warm weather, when the engine compartment gets heat soaked after being run for a bit.

But I didn't start the truck, and haven't for several days. Will it still run even then? All I did was turn the key to the ACC so I can mess with the CD Player to get it to work. I went out today (it has been sitting since Wednesday, no running, and no hot weather) and it did it even then.
