Dashboard lights

Hi,

Half of my dashboard lights went out when I was driving yesterday. I can't help but think it has to be a fuse, but which one. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

if only half went out i doubt its a fuse... but your owners manual will tell you what fuses go to what
i think you will find that its one of the lights.. do they all come on when you turn your dimmer switch??

No.Only the left half of the instrument panel is lit and the dimmer switch does affect their intensity, but doesn't have any impact on the right side which remains dark.

All of your dash lights receive power from the same source, and all, except the radio, are grounded at the same spot, so if it was a power or ground failure, all of them would be out. The bulbs in the instrument cluster are wired in parallel, which means that if one bulb goes out, the others should still work. I suspect that you already had a bulb burned out, and when another one burned out, it just made it more noticeable. You're going to have to pull the cluster and inspect the bulbs, but that won't take you more than a few minutes.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it! I think I am going to pull the cluster this weekend and change all of the bulbs. 11 years is a long time for bulbs anyway and I may as well start off with all new ones. Is there anything tricky to getting at those bulbs that I should know?

You're going to need a torx screwdriver to get the bezel off, and another one to remove the cluster. I don't remember for sure, but I think you'll need a size T15 and a T20.
