rear diff locking when 4wd is engaged

I have been working on my parents 1994 F-150 6cyl. 4X4. The 4wd on this truck has been used like 3 times in the last 6 years, so it doesn't shift in and out of 4wd real great. I lubed the linkage and got it shifting ok, but when it is put in 4 high or low it seams like the rear diff locks. If I make a tight turn the inside wheel skids almost the whole way. I don't have a lot of experience whith 4wd trucks, is this normal? Thanks

Completely normal. That is just the four wheels trying to turn in sync. All 4X4's do that when your turning tightly. Some just aren't as noticeable.Your truck is fine.

Yes it is normal and don't do it. Huge stress on your driveline and is an outstanding way to find the weakest link. Only use 4x4 in conditions where it is slippy enough for at least one wheel to "break loose" and relieve the binding.
