Theres not much aftermarket out there for the 4.9 liters. One thing i can suggest is look into some lower rear end gears. Maybe some 3.55s or even lower. I know my 4.9 came with the wonderful 2.73s, and that really hurts off the line.

Check out the Big block six and Truck Stop forums. There's not a lot of bolt on stuff for the 300, but with headwork and a proper camshaft, you can add plenty of performance

There are alot of decent parts out there if you are willing to look for them.

I found that summit racing had a decent header for the 300 and also carried the K&N FIPK. They also have a replacement Y-pipe for the 300 with a single cat instead of the dual cats. My advice to you is if you have an inspection coming up leave that alone or just cut your own and replace it with a better cat. Most of the aftermarket exhausts are just truck specific not engine specific, so just pick the brand you want and you're done.

For the brave on the big block six website there is an article about adapting 5.0 injectors and fuel regulator to run in place of your current ones. This should net some horsepower through better fuel atomization. There is also a chip out there some where ( I think Jet makes it) that gets rid of your "ford lag" when you mash the pedal.

I was in your shoes once with the whole "what can I do with a 300" dilema. I got rid of mine without this research and found out there was alot I could have done to it. Now that I got it back I won't make the same mistake twice.

Yes they do www.cliffordperformance.net
Just because they still exist doesn't mean their stuff is any better than anyone else's and it's WAY more expensive. Jack Clifford died a few years back and the company has been going dowenhill ever since. There's nothing that you can buy from Clifford that you cannot get from somewhere else with better pricing, better performance and/or better service.

that clifford stuff is a bit on the spendy side, i think i'm gonna pick up one of their "big torque" cams tho, thats pretty reasonably priced.

whats the other sources you guys are talking about that are cheaper?
i'm seriously new to this engine, i've been tuning a focus dohc for 3 years, so i'm good with finding parts for it, but this BB6 seems almost impossible to find sources for parts, granted i've been using google. haha

hook me up with some links if ya can!

Did ford ever use Multi Port or Sequential EFI on these engines, or did the I-6 never get anything more than TBI?

The 300 never got TBI (or more accurately never got CFI which is the Ford term for it, "TBI" is GM-speak. We don't use that kind of language on this board.) All EFI 300s prior to 95 were MFI. In 95 the 49 state version was MFI and the Californicated version was SEFI. In 96 all 300s went to SEFI

That's the gospel according to Ford, but like most religions (IMO), it's not entirely true. I own a "Californicated" (lol) 1995 4.9L F-150, and it's got the same MFI/OBDI system that everybody else has. I am yet to see a single '95 4.9L from anyplace that has SEFI/OBDII. When I inquired directly with Ford, I was told that "plans don't always happen the way we'd like them to". None the less, every factory (and otherwise) service manual I have ever seen (not to mention service equipment manuals) says that the CA version has SEFI/OBDII, and I've never seen a service manual supplement to revise it.

Of all the trucks I could have bought...
