Look at the intake.
If there are two hoses coming off the throttle body which run directly to the air box, it's S/D
If the two hoses merge into one and that one runs to an aluminum cylinder mounted next to the air box, it's MAF. The aluminum cylinder is the MAF meter; S/D systems don't use them.

I'm not sure about the OBD-II rules in 96 for F250s. If they didn't need OBD-II, they probably stayed with S/D. I think the break for OBD-II was at 8500# GVWR in 96 and went to everything in 97.
