snorkel for 95 f150
does anyone know of any snorkel kits for a 95 f150. im looking for one like the arb safari snorkel. i think it could look something like the ones for my discovery II. http://www.arbusa.com/safari_snorkels.htm http://www.roversnorth.com/RRD04/RRD...D04_page13.htm
i think this looks kick *** and even though i dont think i would shell out that much money for a truck this old if i could use some of the parts or if some one sells something similar i could make it work. or does any one have any good pics of a snorkel installed that would be great. im trying to keep it clean looking and not really looking for a ****ty home depot plastic dryer duct duct taped to the hood look. thanks

i get no love
68 views and still i get no love? not even a comment? surely not every one here is a hillbilly and can appriciate the desire for a nice clean looking install? or are there just not that many people that come by the pre-97 page? i inherited this truck from my dad in 98 and he bought it new in 95 so i dont really want to get rid of it, i like the truck so i decided to build it up into my exploring rig. i want to take it into the desert and mountians here in utah to find old mining sites, fossils, rocks and to just see the nature with my kids; so it doesnt have to be a rock crawler, it doesnt have to be a mud bogger, it doesnt need to be built XTREME TO MAX as the car comercials would have u believe. but it does need to be "rebuilt" to be very reliable so i dont get stranded in the middle of nowhere with my kids. plus it can still look good (in my opinion) with a few add ons. So if anyone has some ideas i would appriciate them. Thanks david
Maybe you should check out the poser section, us hillbilly's wouldn't even be thinking about a snorkel until the rest of the vehicle is ready to handle the kind of terrain you're talking about.

Yeah, you got some serious waterproofing work in other areas long before you hit the stock intake. Do you really want the restrictions in air flow a snorkel will have just for looks?

i am thinking more for the dust and dirt protection more than for water and mud protection. for running forest service roads and powerline trails with a couple of other trucks it can get pretty dusty if you are the last one in line. i have cleaned out my air filter and filter housing box after just a weekend in the cinder hills and it was dirtier than a normal 6 month interval i usually use to clean and oil my filter. since k&n are not the best filtering units i figured it would be better to protect the intake a little better than stock

A snorkel relocates your engine's air intake point from a relatively low and vulnerable position to a much higher and safer location where a constant source of cool, clean air is available.
It may be a slightly more restrictive intake of air, but worth it in the long run. You will pick up a lot more dust down low than up high.
We have a winner.
