Now What?

Okay i changed the throttle position sensor in my 93 with a 302 and although it made a huge difference and got my idle back to where it was before this all started im still having issues. I then changed The IAC with a new one and that made no difference at all so i put my old one back on and got a refund.... Here's what it's doin the truck when you first start it it runs rough while driving at lower speeds and three different times it just up and died randomly with no warning at taking off and once at a red light and was really hard to start and all three times the only way it would try and start and eventually started after a few minutes was with me holding the pedal to the floor. But ive noticed at the very point the truck idles bad the check engine light always comes on. When i pulled the throttle body to change the TPS it was pretty bad with carbon build up the truck has lots of power again and after it warms up it runs pretty good but still has some surging to it i went back to Autozone because i feel like maybe pulling the codes could point me in the right direction but the first time i went they said they had no way of testing a 93 but now the manager said the plugin they had to fit my truck is broken and they dont know when they will have another one. Has anyone had anything like this happen at which a new TPS and a new IAC wouldnt help??

Thanks

Daniel

Pull the engine codes.

Maybe your TPS voltage is set wrong. I had a similar problem on my Mustang when the voltage was out of spec did something close to what your talking about. Check your voltage it should be .98 .99 volts. If not set it to that. Also you may have to make the holes bigger to get it to that voltage.

You definitely need to get codes out of it to know what direction to go and what components to test. You can get a cheap code reader from any parts store for like 20 bucks. It plugs into the test connector on the left front fender and blinks the codes out an a little led bulb.

Did you reset the ECM after installing the IAC? If not, you may still need it. You must reset the ECM before any difference will be noticed.

Also, pull the codes. Your truck is trying to help you help it. Work with it.

Well i stopped by an Autozone in a neighboring town and they were happy to scan my truck and came up with the following codes 018,14,023,024,073 although one says check plugs and wires etc and one says check air charge sensor the rest all point out the throttle position sensor as the issue the guy seemed to know alittle he said although i had just purchased the tps from them it appeared it was bad causing the problem i did reset the computer by taking off the ground cable and turning the head lights on for about 30 mins after installing it but i wanted to get you guys feedback as to if whether or not you agree with him that maybe it was defective thanks alot...

I would say reset the KAM by disconnecting the battery and then drive it and see for a bit and then rescan. Those could be codes in memory not actual codes from errors in the system.

Start from scratch for a base.
