i have a 85 f 150
with a 351 v8 5.8l
im still trying to figure out what transmission i have
sticker says trans type k
vin number is 1FTEX15H4FKA90773
i belive its a 3 speed d 1 2
with a switch on my steering wheel for low and high
(dual one2 range) ...dne2 on the switch

i can pull the trannie back and inch and the truck will start right up
when i bolt the trannie up the starter sounds like its just hitting the flywheel
(thunck)
ifanyone has any sugestions please help....

 

K is a C6

Are you sure the trans input is seating fully in the torque converter? It sounds like you're forcing it together and the flex-plate is binding the starter.
