Ball joint problems

I'm trying to help this poor guy out with removing his ball joints from his 1995 f150. I don't have a picture or truck to go by, so I'm going by memory. He has a ball joint puller, spindle on, and can't remove it. I told him to remove the spindle, then pull the joint out...am I right or off? Or is there a way to remove it with a spindle on?

In another thread, someone said that the ball joints on a 95 are non-replaceable, the a-frame and joint need to be replaced as a unit

You're right. The knuckle must be removed, and the joints pressed out, and pressed back in.
