What Type 4x4 You have?

Just curious who has push button and who has the manual linkage on the floor?

I have what I prefer, the shifter on the floor.

From 88 to 96, the F150s and Broncos got the Borg Warner 1356. The 1356 could be had in manual shift, or Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF). Ford called this option "Touch Drive" and was available with the AOD, E4OD, or 4R70w auto trannys. Basicly the same thing internally, the only difference with the ESOF is a motor on the outside of the case to shift the transfer case.

I prefer the manual shift, as there are five or so things to go wrong with the ESOF that I don't have to worry about.

Ive had em both my 92 was on the floor and the 93 i have now is push button although the push button has been trouble free i would still prefer the floor shifter because im with you all there is a whole lot less to go wrong with the 4x4 system and if your like me when u need it u need it bad so its kinda like everytime i push that button i grit my teeth....

I have the push button, but then this is my first full size 4X4, I've had two smaller 4X4s with both mechanical and pushbutton, I prefer the operation of the pushbutton, I've gotten into trouble before hassling with the manual shifter.

I do have the standard concern of something going wrong with the electronic shifter at the wrong time, but I'm going to take this truck anywhere that not having 4X4 will strand me or endanger me, at least for awhile.
