The broncos had Borg Warner 1356's, I assume the F150s are the same. Do you know a good welder? Or can you go to a junkyard and pull one to swap?

i dont know if it can be welded the crack is along the length of the drain port perpindicular to the threads so i dont know if it would be worth trying to weld the entire crack closed from the bottom of the case to the threads then i would have to cut new threads etc. i think i'm going to try to find a used one some where and overhaul it that way the truck isnt down for too long.

can anyone tell me the difference between the borg warner 1345 and 1356? can they both be electric shift?

after some more looking i am convinced i do indeed have a bg 1356. i dont think i will try to get it welded since its magnesium and i have a feeling to have someone weld that it would be cost prohibitive. there is lots of info out there here is some decent info http://www.fourwheeler.com/projectbuild/129_0406_red/
thanks for your help

I am not familiar with the 1345, but the 1356 can be electronic shift on the fly or manual shift on the fly. I would stick with the manual.
