I am not getting any output from the alternator. does anyone have the schematics so I can check the wiring? Its a 6 month old alt and I would rather make sure its getting the excitation voltage before I take to Kreagan or autozone. Thanks...

 

does the charge light come on when you turn on the key then go out when you start the truck ?

If so the alt. is getting excitation voltage.

 

it has a guage. and the needle is on the discharge side. When I read voltage at the battery its only 11.7v with the engine on or off.

 

Tell ya what if it were me id go to autozone or somewhere where they can test it without taking it off and if you really wanna make sure its the altenator take it off and get it tested. I've owned three pre 97's a 92 a 93 and a 94 and my 92 went through a autozone altenator ever year and a half and every single one did exactly what your describing when they went out so new altenator or one 10 years old id bet 20 dollars its bad........ It should also have a light. This is critical for if this bulb burns out your alt. will not charge.

 

I read out all the wires for continuity, then took the alt back to pep-boys it had a lifetime warrenty on it. works good now. I dont have a bat light. Just an indicator. Or if there is a bat light. it never comes on.
