Wont come out of park?

Ive got a 95 f150 auto and recently im having trouble getting it to come out of park.If i wait a few second to a few minutes it will usually go into another gear, anyone have any clues as to whats wrong?Ive heard something about a module on the steering column but im not real sure.Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Travis

I believe that your truck needs to have the brake pedal pushed to release from park. Do you have brake lights? One of the wires may be broken on the switch, or the switch may be bad. If you turn the key just one click away from off toward start, you should be able to take the shifter out of park. Make sure that you don't turn it too far(the dash warning lights will be on if you do). Then you could start it in neutral and go to any gear.
