EGR- Stumbling possible solution

About a year ago, my f150 stumbled hard and the check engine light came on, then off. After that, the truck would stumble at 45-50, and even at 55-60 sometimes. I read here about dirty injectors and a possible EGR problem. Well I plugged up the EGR and the problem went away. Me, needing to have everything in working order, could not stop at that. I replaced all the sensors, unplugged the EGR and the stumble was still there. I had noticed that the speedometer was jumping a little, causing the cruise control to not work very well. I replaced the speed sensor in the rear end, only to make it worse. I then bought a used PSOM (speedometer) off ebay for $10.00. Cruise control cleaned up, stumbling cleaned up, Gas milage came back.

Go figure!

The only thing I can figure was the signal from the PSOM to the ECU/ECM was messing things up. I hope this might help someone else ..

Tell me about your electrical fan. Do you have any pictures?

No, I don't have any pics...I got it from advance auto parts..
Living in North Iowa where the temps rarely reach over 80 in the summer, I have had no problems with cooling the engine. I also put on the adjustable thermostat. The price for the tool to get the stock fan off was what blew me away...$65.00 at NAPA. The fan ran me around $160.00. I went with one that drew less amps. Didn't have to change the alternator. If I ever decided to travel to the desert, the stock fan would have to be put back on.

Question for you Chris, where did you get your mud flaps?
They look great!

Thank you. The first set I bought at WalMart in Oregon around '97. I was up there for two weeks with my ex, at her family vacation place, and the driveway was about 200 yards long, and all gravel, so the second day I was there, I found a cheap set of diamond plate mudflaps at WalMart for around $12, and installed them...

When I finally realized how silly they looked, at least on the back, being so small, and with the truck having 31x10.5's, I decided they had to go, but I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere (I'm a diamond plate kind of guy), so I just made them myself...

Back to your fan... Is it a single or a dual fan, and what diameter blade(s) does it (they) have? Do you know how many cfm it (they) moves?

I hate to sound so ignorant, but what does PSOM mean? I am experiencing this very situation and am prepared to replace the EGR and sensor, but am afraid that this will not solve my problem

1994 F150 XCab
5.0L 4x4 E4OD
32x11.5
170,000+ miles

Issues:

Pings and bucks on any sort of engine load
speedometer bounces (sometimes violently at 50mph+)

Just to know what a PSOM is will be a help.
