New to these forums, so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot.

My question is this, did Ford make a short bed for the '79 F150 Rangers, or did they only come in an 8 foot bed?

I am looking at buying one off of a guy who says everything is original except the tailgate...it looks like it is a shorter bed and I thought Ford didn't come out with those until later.

Yes, they made a shortbed. My friend has one that is a beautiful truck, it's painted Harley colors with the orange on the side, and it's in good shape. However, Ford didn't offer 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks with a shortbed, but it was definitely an option for the half tons.
