High Lift Coil Springs "1996 F150 Extended Cab"

Wanted to beef up my front end so I could put a plow on my truck.

I bought and installed some SuperLift Front coil springs.

I have also replaced the Front shocks to be longer than stock.

My question is do I need to have the front end aligned ?
I received some bushings with the Super lift coil springs and went to a mechanic so some advice and he said that it would cost $200 to align because he has to pull the lower ball joint to install these bushings.

Does this sound right.

Thanks, Tom

Thumbs up

I had a 1991 f150 4x4 and had heavier & taller springs put in up front to match the height in the back. I had to get an alignment afterwards but they could only align it so much because of the height of the new springs. It was barely noticable and still drove great!!

$200 is about right, but they dont have to pull the lower ball joint. They have to remove the alighnment bushing from the UPPER ball joint, and replace it with a different one. If you wanted to get by the cheap way, just have him set the toe so you wont wear out tires quite so fast and you'll probably be alright. But if you want it done right, Spend the $200.

Seems a little steep to me. My alignment shop charged me $100 for the camber/caster adjustable bushings and the alignment all together. My truck kept wearing out the inside of the right front before this work was done, now it's perfect.

My wheels were everywhere but straight after the lift, barely drivable. Three shops wouldn't even touch it. Had to take it to someplace that has done lifted trucks before. My alignment was done for $90 and included one special bushing installed.
