77 f-100 brakes
77 f-100 brakes
Hey does anyone know what is involved in changing the manual brakes on a 77 f-100 2WD, no cruise, front disks from manual to power? Will the old master cyliner and pedal and bracket fit or will these need to be changed. Thanx in advance!
I am not positive but I beleve you would need the break booster (the big round canister that the master cylinder bolts to).
As for using you current master cylinder I do not know but new master cylinders will run about $20 (my 83 did).
you may be able to use your current pedal but again I am not sure.
Run to a salvage yard and check some trucks out and see what you can find and check all the mounting points. If your lucks there may still be a '77(or similar year) kicking around in some salvage yards with power breaks.

I'm not positive on this, but I do believe you should be able to keep your pedal but the last time I did that I had to change the rod from the pedal to the booster and I am almost positive I had to use the master that belongs on the booster.
I have been looking at the hydo boost system on the superduties. It is powered from the power steering pump, you need 1 line out and 2 return lines into the resivoir. It would give you power brakes if you later decided to go with a big cam that doesn't produce vaccume. I am not sure of bolt mounting width and the piece is spendy ($300+) from the dealer, then you would need a new master cylinder. I have been looking for my mustang.
Thanx guys. I've been looking around and found a guy with a 78 booster and 79 booster both with the MC. They don't look the same and am still not sure if they will fit the 77. Anyone have a Hollaner manual to check?? Thanx again.
