Unhappy Gas Leak

I walked into my garage today and smelled a heavy presence of gas. I looked under my truck and there was no gas on the floor, but it seemed like fumes or something was leaking out of the front tank. I'm not sure what it's from. Anybody have an idea. BTW, I need to get a new fuel pump, do you think that could contribute?

There is a chance that the hanger plate which incorporates your electrical wiring harness is leaking through the connector. This would be a BAD thing. This happened on my truck and caused the connector to short and burned the wires to the pump. If you can feel the top of the tank around the fuel pump harness, see if there's gas up there. If so, do NOT start the truck.

Look around with a flashlight for any wetness. Usually they leak around the tank seam, filler neck, or from the fuel pump bracket up top. Also check the fuel lines and evap lines.

The charcoal in the charcoal cannister may need replacing, it is part of the fuel system that filters fuel vapor and sends it back to the engine to be burned. Happened on a friends truck and that was the culprit. It is behind the passenger side headlight, under the hood.FYI
